Keep spam out of your real inbox
Every form that asks for your email can add you to a mailing list, or sell your address on. Give those forms a temporary address instead, and the mail that follows ends up somewhere that deletes itself.
Where spam starts
Free downloads, contests, Wi-Fi portals, discount codes and one-time purchases often keep your address for marketing. A temporary address takes that mail instead of your personal inbox.
It stops on its own
The address works for 24 hours, up to 7 days if you extend it. After that every message is deleted and new mail bounces back to the sender, so there is nothing to unsubscribe from.
No tracking when you read
Remote images in mail are blocked until you choose to show them, so senders cannot see when or where you opened a message. The address is receive only, so it can never send spam itself.
When to use your own address
For anything you want to keep, such as orders, bookings, banks and work accounts, use your own address. A temporary one is for the mail you would rather never see again.
